Yes, Black Lives Matter!
Before I post any other posts/songs I thought I should say something about how I feel about this time in our history of America, and how I can’t ignore what’s going on all around us, that African Americans are being mistreated by those who are supposed to protect and serve.
I am sickened and appalled at the treatment I see toward African Americans. And it pisses me off.
I wrote this song five days before George Floyd was killed.
When I wrote this song, I was thinking about money in politics, and how politicians and corporate lobbyists make decisions every day, not to promote the General Welfare, or secure the Blessings of Liberty and the Posterity to the People of the United States but to further enhance corporate coffers.
A corporation’s job is to make money for its shareholders; and yes, our jobs are to make money as well, but that is not why we exist. Is it?
I kind of went off on a tangent about corporations and fascism, and shared my idea how to reel them in, which I proposed to get on the Democratic Party Platform back in 2011; without any luck. If you are interested, check out my post: Corporations & Crimes of Moral Turpitude.
I recently re-watched some of the movie Gandhi and saw the scene at the mine where there was a long line of Indians who would walk to the gate and get hit in the head, and then the next one would walk up and get hit in the head and on and on. It really pissed me off, and pisses me off how so many people get hurt before inevitable change happens. It would be nice if change, inevitable change, didn’t come with pain.
We the people We're pissed off We the people We're out in the street We the people Yeah, we're pissed off We the people Not corporations We the people Yeah, we're pissed off We the people We need a more perfect union We the people We're pissed off and we're out in the street We're pissed off and we're out in the street Don't bust us up Don't bust us up cause we're out in the street Don't bust us up cause we're pissed off Don't bust us up cause you don't like us Don't bust us up Don't bust us up cause we're out in the street Don't bust us up cause you're pissed off Don't bust us up cause you're not like us You are, an American You are, an American, like us
