I wrote this song years ago during the dog days of summer, and it had been a long while since I told my sister and brother that I loved them, and probably too long since I told my wife and daughter. After I finished the song, I made a point to tell all of them that I loved them, and they all said they did too. It seems a lot easier and more naturally to tell them now.
This is also one of those acoustic tunes that came alive in the garage with my electric guitar strapped to me and a loud drum beat. Sometimes it just feels good to scream into a mic.
Again it is pretty rough but I still wanted to share it. Maybe one day we will do a serious recording of it.
I’m working on another verse about my friends, my in-laws, and my cousins and how I need to tell them I love them too.
Enjoy!
Tell Someone You Do written by: Phil Kane (2015) As I lay down for a catnap on a dog day afternoon An awful thought, came to mind, that life had passed me by So I took a deep breath and I jumped out of bed And went and hugged my wife I told her that I loved her, and she hugged me right back Chorus: Tell someone you love, that you love them Tell someone you love that you do x2 As I was walking up a hill in my neighborhood I thought of my brother and my sister too And I wondered when the last time, that I said I love you So I called them right up and I told them and they said they do too Chorus: As I was writing this song, I thought of my little girl But my little girl is not my little girl anymore She's a grown woman, and I'm an old man But I told her that I loved her and she said, I love you too dad Chorus:
Perfect reminder today that tomorrow is not promised. We always need to end the day with I love you.
Agreed. Love Ya!
Great song with a great message! The chorus keeps replaying in my head.
Thanks Dave. Love Ya!
Time is no longer a head wind but a tail wind. This is a very urgent feeling reminder. Thanks Phil!
True about time. Thank you Lorna.
I have another song, about time, I will record it someday, it says.
“There’s just enough time to enjoy your time here”
